- Evolving Systems Prepares for Accelerated U.S. Number Porting Intervals
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado - Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL), a leading provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and cable markets, today announced plans to address accelerated number porting intervals in the U.S. to assist operators in compliance with new FCC orders.
On May 13, 2009, the United States FCC adopted an order decreasing the number porting interval for the majority of fixed line and intermodal ports from four days to one day, and imposed an aggressive timeline for operators to comply with the newly reduced intervals. The published FCC order, document FCC 09-041, provides industry committees approximately three months to design changes to the porting processes necessary to meet the accelerated intervals, and larger operators an additional nine months to comply with these changes.
As a major supplier of number porting support systems to fixed line operators in the U.S., Evolving Systems is working with operators and standards committees to ensure all the necessary updates are available to its clients to meet the announced deadlines.
"Our OrderPath porting gateway includes an extensive integration interface that provides our clients the necessary tools to respond to the changing timelines," Steve Farnsworth, VP of Number Management Solutions, remarked. "While the industry committees are still determining the final process changes, our modular design allows us to incorporate process updates with minimal disruption to our clients’ existing deployments."
