- Major U.S. Carrier Selects Evolving Systems' Numeritrack™ Solution for
VOIP Application
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado - Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL), a leading provider of innovative software solutions for operations and systems integration to many of the largest communications companies in the U.S., today announced that a major U.S. telecommunications carrier has selected the Company's NumeriTrack™ solution as the number inventory platform for its voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) initiative. NumeriTrack is a highly efficient, cost-effective inventory solution for carriers who must comply with the FCC mandate for a comprehensive number conservation policy. The solution will be used to handle all VoIP phone number management in and out of region for the carrier's VoIP offering.
Stephen Gartside, CEO of Evolving Systems, said it is the Company's first win in the emerging VoIP space for its inventory solution. VoIP, which allows consumers to make telephone calls over the Internet, is widely regarded as a cutting-edge, high-growth application. All major carriers and many smaller ones are seeking an edge in how they manage the critical number inventory and conservation component of the process, and Evolving Systems believes its NumeriTrack solution offers practical and economic advantages over alternative solutions.
"We are delighted to assist our customers as they enter the VoIP market by providing a consolidated, single-number inventory solution that addresses the traditional wireline, wireless - and now - the VoIP market's needs," Gartside said. "As carriers accelerate their entry into the VoIP space, they are looking for ways to achieve operational efficiencies and lower costs. Evolving Systems, as a leader in number portability, number inventory and service assurance solutions, is committed to extending all of the Company's offerings to support the fast-growing packet networks and to help its customers successfully bring new, value-added services to their residential and enterprise customers - at an accelerated pace and at a lower cost."
About Number Inventory and Management
Number management of wireline, wireless and VoIP numbers has become an increasingly
important issue as carriers seek to comply with stringent FCC requirements
for number management. These requirements were brought about by the potential
shortage of 10-digit phone numbers in North America due to the proliferation
of communication devices. For example, in residential markets the use of
cell phones, fax machines, wireless PDAs, modems and security systems has
grown at a rapid pace over the last ten years, requiring the allocation of
tens of millions of new phone numbers. In the commercial area, the explosion
of devices that require dedicated lines, such as credit card validation devices,
ATM machines and other communication devices, has placed additional demand
on the shrinking 10-digit number inventory. The most visible result of this
growth is evidenced by the frequent introduction of new area codes in local
calling areas.
The NumeriTrack Solution
Evolving Systems' NumeriTrack solution provides an enterprise solution that
offers carriers cost savings by automating many labor intensive tasks, such
as the creation of FCC mandated reports, forecasting future number exhaust
dates in a geographic area, identifying contaminated numbers in blocks, providing
number administrators with a real-time view of the carrier's number utilization
and ensuring that telephone numbers are not assigned more than once.
