- Evolving Systems Launches Next Generation Mediation and Service Assurance Solutions
and Announces OEM Arrangement with WatchMark-Comnitel
Evolving Systesms today introduced two new next generation solutions for telecommunications carriers: Mediation Central™, an advanced network data mediation solution, and NetVantage™, a network usage analysis solution that was developed using technology provided through a recent OEM arrangement with WatchMark-Comnitel.
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado - Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL), a leading provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and IP carrier market, today introduced two new next generation solutions for telecommunications carriers: Mediation Central™, an advanced network data mediation solution, and NetVantage™, a network usage analysis solution that was developed using technology provided through a recent OEM arrangement with WatchMark-Comnitel.
The combination of Evolving Systems' Mediation Central and NetVantage products will replace the Company's popular TDMS product, providing customers broader functionality with support for DSL, IP and broadband network elements. This introduction is the first phase in what will be a multiphase release of the Mediation Central product. The current release and anticipated follow-on releases address broadband performance and service quality management needs for wireline, IP services and cable providers.
Evolving Systems' Mediation Central product is also being extended to provide billing data management for voice, data and content services over fixed and mobile networks. This new billing component was made possible by the Company's recent acquisition of Tertio Telecoms, Ltd., whose Evident™ billing solution is being integrated with the Mediation Central product. Carriers will have the ability to rationalize their data management environment across their service assurance and revenue assurance processes. This will create new opportunities to differentiate services on value and quality over any combination of technologies and platforms.
The Mediation Central product addresses the need for a common data collection layer across a carrier's entire network. Today carriers typically have one or more mediation products to support traditional circuit-switched businesses and another set of products to manage their emerging broadband network. In addition to adding unnecessary costs, this approach increases the complexity of the operation and does not easily support a single, consolidated view of the network and its status. With support for traditional circuit switch as well as broadband network elements, including a wide variety of IP, DSL, FTTP and VoIP network elements, the Mediation Central product can eliminate the need for carriers to operate and support multiple mediation products.
"Corporate telecommunications customers will continue to increase their use of data networks driven by new applications such as VoIP. However, they will expect assurances of service quality similar to what they receive in traditional voice communications," said Jason Briggs, program manager with the Yankee Group. "Hence, we are seeing the rise of service quality management as a hot topic for many carriers today looking to roll out new IP-based services and better manage customer expectations."
The NetVantage solution was a collaborative effort by Evolving Systems and new OEM partner WatchMark-Comnitel. Specifically, WatchMark-Comnitel's Prospect™ and ServiceAssure™ products were incorporated into Evolving Systems' NetVantage solution to allow fixed-line carriers to perform customer level SLAs as well as real-time performance management and capacity planning for narrowband and broadband networks. WatchMark-Comnitel, renowned as a leading provider of service quality and performance management solutions to wireless service providers, maintains a customer base that includes many of the world's largest wireless carriers.
"WatchMark-Comnitel was attracted to this partnership because it will allow us to expand into the wireline and broadband markets with an established partner, Evolving Systems, who has a solid reputation for delivering innovation to tier-1 carriers," commented Lowell Anderson, vice president of strategic marketing and product management at WatchMark-Comnitel.
"We believe our Mediation Central and NetVantage solutions represent a new and innovative approach to mediation and service assurance - one that will help network operators accelerate the delivery of new IP-based services," said Stephen Gartside, president and chief executive officer of Evolving Systems. "Our partnership with WatchMark-Comnitel adds to our offering by bringing to market a proven solution that will allow our customers to create, monitor and customize customer-specific SLAs."
