- Evolving Systems and Wireless Trade Nigeria Announce Partnership for African
Market
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL), a leading provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and IP carrier markets, and Wireless Trade Nigeria Limited (WTL), a systems integrator and distributor of wireless solutions and related consulting and support services, have entered into a partnership agreement to pursue the growing wireless market in Africa. Under the agreement WTL will provide sales support and first-line support and maintenance for Evolving Systems' customers in Africa.
Africa's telecom markets continue to be the fastest growing in the world as formerly state-run monopoly markets develop into competitive markets and new wireless networks are rolled out. Subscriber growth is being fuelled by increasing coverage, more affordable handsets and tariffs, new distribution channels and the rollout of wireless data and content services.
"The wireless market in Africa has seen exponential growth, but has one of the lowest penetration levels, so there is still huge potential for further development," commented Lukman Akanbi, CEO of Wireless Trade Nigeria. "Competition is now driving these fast growing markets to evolve into a more mature stage where operators need to improve their performance, speed up the introduction of a wider portfolio of services and reduce the cost of their operations. Evolving Systems already has a strong track record of delivering solutions to these challenges to fast growing, competitive wireless operators in this region and we look forward to working in partnership with them."
Evolving Systems' Tertio™ service activation solution enables operators to replace legacy and custom built service activation solutions with a solution that can be cheaper and easier to operate. The solution helps operators to manage growth by reducing the time to activate services, decreasing the number of errors, and lowering the cost of operations. The Tertio solution, which supports Linux as well as various commercial UNIX products, offers operators a cost-effective and scalable choice of hardware architectures. It also provides graphical tools to enable rapid service modelling, service assembly and service integration to speed up service rollout and reduce the dependency on vendors or systems integrators.
"Wireless Trade Nigeria has strong experience with leading African operators and is well placed to help Evolving Systems grow its presence in the region," said Stephen Gartside, CEO and President of Evolving Systems. "This new partnership demonstrates our commitment to our three current customers in the region as well as to new opportunities, complementing the investments that we have already made in the emerging markets of Central and South America and the Asia Pacific regions."
