- Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular Select Evolving Systems for Service
Activation
- Significant win in largest country in Latin America
- First win with partner American Telecommunications, Inc. (ATI)
ENGLEWOOD, Colorado Evolving Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-EVOL), a provider of software solutions and services to the wireless, wireline and IP carrier market, today announced that its Tertio™ service activation solution has been selected by Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular, two of the major mobile operators in Brazil. This award marks Evolving Systems' entry into the Brazilian market, and is the Company's second significant win in less than a year in the emerging Latin America region.
The Tertio solution will enable Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular to provision their services on both TDMA and GSM networks from a single convergent service activation platform, including prepaid and post-paid voice, voice-mail and other next generation advanced mobile data services.
Evolving Systems was selected after a rigorous evaluation process that included many of the leading service activation solutions. The main driver for Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular's decision was a desire to replace their legacy provisioning system with a solution that could easily and cost-effectively provision all present and future services on a multi-vendor, multi-technology network.
"It was becoming very hard for our team to keep up with the needs of the business using our legacy system" said Joo Scott, Systems Manager of Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular. "We evaluated the leading solutions in the market and selected Evolving Systems because its Tertio solution provided what we were looking for in an activation suite: flexibility, a robust architecture and, mainly, a sophisticated tool to model our complex business scenarios, besides the company's extensive experience and its commitment to supporting our needs in Brazil", he added.
The Brazilian mobile market is going through significant change, resulting in subscriber growth of more than 30% in the last year. As the penetration of 2G nears saturation levels, Brazil's mobile operators are turning their attention to 3G, with licenses expected to be awarded this year. Regulatory body Agncia Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) is actively fostering competition in the Brazilian market.
"The increased competition and growth occurring in the Brazilian mobile market encourages operators to seek out the best in breed solutions for their OSS needs" commented Stephen Gartside, President and CEO of Evolving Systems. "With the proven capabilities of the Tertio solution, a lower cost of ownership and functionality that helps carriers gain the competitive edge and provide a higher quality of service, Telemig Celular and Amazônia Celular is well positioned to take advantage of the new opportunities in the fast-changing Brazilian market."
