Dynamic Allocation
The new standard in SIM card activationWireless carriers have to deal with increasing numbers of SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards for many reasons: market growth, sustaining a churning subscriber base, SIM-only deals, SIM cards embedded in a growing range of devices. Most carriers employ a process where SIM cards are pre-provisioned in the network before shipping into distribution channels and this process comes under extreme pressure as SIM card volumes grow.
Pre-provisioning requires the allocation of core
network capacity and resources like MSISDNs (phone numbers) and IMSIs (International
Mobile Subscriber Identity) well in advance of a SIM card being used by a
subscriber. This results in unnecessary costs for inactive SIMs and the availability
of capacity or resources can constrain a carrier's ability to support marketing
initiatives and promotions.
Dynamic SIM Allocation™
Evolving Systems' Dynamic SIM Allocation™ solution (patent pending) is a new alternative to pre-provisioning which allows the SIM cards to be activated when the customer's mobile phone is first switched on and used. Decisions such as allocation of a phone number and selection of supported services are made at this point of first use, and any required information is collected from the customer via their mobile device.
Mobile phone numbers may be allocated automatically with the option of enabling customers to choose their number - either from a standard list or by adding a vanity golden number to their account. It's even possible to allocate regional numbers based on the customer's needs and location.
The Dynamic SIM Allocation solution also enables carriers to carry out other innovative offerings such as self-service number porting and automated procedures for SIM card replacement.
