
Offer choice and personalization on first use
In many markets, the ability to choose a telephone number is important to end-users. Whether it's a number with a cultural or personal significance or simply an easy to remember number, being able to offer the choice to customers provides the operator with a competitive advantage and also an opportunity to increase revenues, as charges can be applied for these numbers.
While many operators offer number choice to postpaid customers, most can only offer it to prepaid customers through very limited channels - often only via a flagship store at the operator's headquarters.
Our Dynamic SIM Allocation™ solution provides an opportunity to offer number choice to prepaid subscribers at the time of first use, via the handset. For the subscriber, the experience is further enhanced as the choice of number is much wider; DSA has access to all the numbers available for allocation, not only those in stock at a particular retailer. The number choice process can also include a search for vanity or golden numbers containing a meaningful digit sequence.
Increasing access to number choice in this way makes it a more valuable competitive differentiator. The ability to offer potentially valuable vanity numbers to more users also increases the revenue potential from those numbers; the handset dialogue can be tailored to support a tiered charging structure.
The time of first use is also the ideal opportunity to offer additional, value-added services to a new subscriber. The same handset-based dialogue that supports number choice can also be used to offer other services, further increasing the incremental revenue opportunity.
